Dolphins officially hire Brian Flores as head coach

Brian Flores' final game with the Patriots was a masterpiece.

With another Super Bowl title in his pocket, Flores has been officially hired as the 13th head coach of the Miami Dolphins. He becomes the first African American head coach in Dolphins history, and is expected to have a long leash in order to build Miami into a contender.

"To be a head coach in this league is a dream come true, to be head coach of the Miami Dolphins is a dream come true. This is a great organization with a great history, with a great fan base and I’m excited to be here."

The Dolphins hope that Flores' experience in coaching all three phases of a football team will pay dividends as he tries to lead Miami to sustained success. However, Flores, the de facto defensive coordinator with the Pats this past season, is a defense-first guy. This is the first time since Miami hired Nick Saban in 2005 that they've gone with a defensive head coach.
