Patriots reportedly went after O.J Howard, but Tampa Bay had other plans

(Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports)

Real shocker on this one: the Pats are in the market to boost the tight end position. The return of Ben Watson certainly helps the situation, but with Ryan Izzo and Matt LaCosse not knowing how to block, the team has started looking for some outside help.

O.J Howard has been a big nothing on the stat sheet in Tampa Bay (or my fantasy team) so far, but he is an exceptional blocker and in a good rookie contract situation. As reported by Albert Breer, the Patriots did look to make an offer for the tight end, but the Bucs hit back with a hard "no" so looks like they'll have to look elsewhere.

With the trade deadline a little over a week away, we'll just have to wait and see if the Pats make any moves to help positions in need.
